The Just Chill + Hang Out + Order Things Online Gift Guide

by Roo on December 11, 2013

in giveaway, miscellany, sponsored

It’s December 11th, and I am here to hold your hand while you realize you still have gifts to buy. Honestly, I don’t think anyone should freak out until the date starts with a 2, because Amazon Prime delivers gifts in two days, and Zappos will do it overnight. God bless the Internet. There are also a ton of places that email gift cards (if you like that sort of thing), so you can literally wake up on Christmas morning, buy a gift card, print it out, and stick it in a card. All of that to say, let’s take some deep cleansing breaths and eat a couple of Cheetos. Gift giving shouldn’t be stressful.

Here are a couple of tiny line-ups I thought you’d might like. As a disclosure, the Koss inclusion (you’ll see below) is part of a FitFluential campaign, which just means I was paid to receive a pair and poke at them and include them here.

gift-guide-for-kids1) Green Toys Rocket – Green and made in the USA.
2) LEGO Ultimate Building Set  – The perfect starter kit. Remmy’s first “big kid” LEGO set + we all love it.
3) Charm-It Bracelets – Comes with super cute charms to collect. (The bookworm is adorable.)
4) Llama Llama Mad at Mama – I want to *be* the mama in this story.
5) Nanoblock Mustang – Teeny blocks; really great for developing fine motor skills.
6) The Jesus Storybook Bible – The loveliest children’s Bible I’ve ever seen.
7) Tegu Tints Pocket Pouch 8 Piece – If you’ve been eyeing the big set, but are balking at the price, this is a nice tester set if you want to try them out before making an investment.

gift-guide-for-fitness-fanatics
1) Koss FitClips – Designed for women, available at Best Buy, Sears, etc.
2) Fitbit Zip Wireless Activity Tracker – Easy way to track activity; syncs up to smartphones.
3) Klean Kanteen – A must buy if a fitness-y friend is still using disposables.
4) Manduka ProLite – For the yogi (beginner or advanced) in your life.
5) Trigger Point The Grid Roller – Foam roller; next best thing to a massage from a human.

stocking-stuffer-gift-guide

1) Korres Lip Butter – All time fave. I mourned when I accidentally put it through my washer + dryer.
2) Wisdom Bookjig – Their whole Chalkboard series is really pretty.
3) Big O Key Ring – If you can get past the name (!?), it’s a cute bangle that slips over your wrist and keep your keys close.
4) UniqueCharge Duo – For that person who’s always like “Noooo my phone’s dead.”
5) ZAGGfoam – Perfect for the tech/neat freak hybrid.
6) Organic Chocolate – The wrapper requires no wrapping.

gifts-that-fight-poverty1) Animals – By donating animals (this is a great project to do with extended family in lieu of exchanging socks or whatever), you help bless a family with the gift of a sustainable source of nutrition + income.
2) Raven and Lily soap set – Handpoured by marginalized women in India who are receiving training, income, and access to literacy programs.
3) Mend Bicycle tote – This is a line by Invisible Children to empower women affected by the LRA conflict.
* Additionally, if you like to make a donation to a non-profit or other charity around the holidays, I’d love it if you’d consider this note I put up on the NF FB page last night.

I’m giving away five of the products above. (I don’t want to kill anyone’s screen with Rafflecopter widgets everywhere, so you can enter just after the jump).

I have no finished my holiday shopping. Always with the best of intentions I start to follow “8weeks to a Frazzle Free Christmas” and each year I frazzle anyway.

But, while that O ring thing is kinda cool, its $55!! Anyone else feel that that is a bit pricey?

I have done a little online shopping so far but need to finish up. Thanks for the ideas!

Oh! Some ridiculously good ideas… I especially like that you included “for the sweaty people”! I have my older brother for Secret Santa for our family and had NO idea what to get him. Crossfit what? I’m almost finished with our Christmas shopping but I’ve got a few more gifts here and there :)

I have done only a tiny amount of Christmas shopping. A few stocking stuffers. :\ I only have to shop for my two children and some of the things that you mentioned sound AMAZING! Thanks!

I’ve done some shopping, but I definitely have more to go. Thanks for these suggestions! I’ll be checking several of them out!

I got the Fitbit Zip last Christmas and I bought myself that Grid roller about 1-2 months ago. As you can tell, I love your list because we have such good taste! ;)

Love this and Amazon and Zappo’s and the internet and ALL THE THINGS. I’ve been in a weird shopping funk, so maybe this will jolt me out of it. Zero point zero presents have been purchased thus far.

Missy G. December 11, 2013 at 1:52 pm

I only have 5 more gifts to find. So close, yet so far away from completion! (And then, I have to wrap… ughhhh)

Reply

Jenn December 11, 2013 at 1:54 pm

Still have some loose ends to tie up and lots of wrapping to do!

The one thing I wanted to get my family this year is discontinued, so I am waiting for inspiration to strike.

Reply

Jennifer L. December 11, 2013 at 2:03 pm

I only have a couple of gifts left to buy. I really like to think of unique experiences and/or gifts so that’s a challenge of itself…is it wrong that I want the Grid Roller as a present to myself?!? :) Thanks Roo!

Reply

Emily December 11, 2013 at 2:04 pm

Almost done! I try to stagger it between pay periods:) Although, the next task of wrapping said presents is not done. And the teachers gifts….I forgot about the teachers gifts. Gift cards are looking good…

Shannon December 11, 2013 at 2:16 pm

So I loved the idea of the O-ring keychain, but $55????? That’s a little ridiculous…

Reply

Natasha December 11, 2013 at 2:16 pm

Online shopping is where it’s at. Been doing way more of that this year. Until yesterday, when of had to drag the littles to ‘the big alligator mall’ to shakedown Legoland for THAT perfect gift. Still recovering.

Since this is my first married Christmas, I went a little overboard shopping for my husband. I still have to buy for my family!! Eek! But, I’ve got my list and I’ll most likely knock it out this weekend. Unfortunately, there are a few items that require a trip to stores. My worst nightmare is going to a store in December! Deep breaths, deep breaths…..

I’m mostly done but since this is my first Christmas with a kiddo I imagine I’ll keep buying some little stuff. He’s only four months old so it’s pretty much all just stuff he needs anyway.

Kristin B. December 11, 2013 at 2:31 pm

I am all done with shopping. I was done before Thanksgiving. I don’t like crowds so I try and steer clear from stores from Thanksgiving through Christmas.

I did 90% of my shopping online last week and it was the best thing ever. Most places offered free shipping (yay Target Red Card!) and best part is I didn’t have to leave the comfort of my pajamas. Boom. Done.

Steph Reiner December 11, 2013 at 2:44 pm

P.S. I love your entries because I’m already following you on Facebook and Instagram cuz I love you that much. It’s harder when people are like “Follow us” and I’m like “Ehhhh… I don’t want a free iPad that bad.”

We got that same LEGO ultimate building set, but in pink. For our girl who seriously loves everything pink. :-)

Well, Santa has nearly finished the required items… Mommy and Daddy over here are on a tight budget this year. I still have things I want to buy (and need to for various siblings), but am trying to pick and choose wisely!

I have done 75% of my Christmas shopping. I do still have a few things to get and I haven’t even started stockings yet. I also have to mail all our out of town family gifts which includes some Christmas baking that I haven’t started! Maybe I’m only 50% done.

I still have kind of a lot of Christmas shopping to do, but I don’t let it stress me out. I tend to basically ignore stress as long as possible, and it kind of works for me. Glad you said that kid’s Bible storybook was good, I’ll be getting one for my son!

Michelle B December 11, 2013 at 8:16 pm

I am done with Christmas Shopping, mostly done through etsy! woot woot! HOWEVER, my oldest asked for an American Girl Doll (it’s been over a year of asking) so it won’t be under the tree, it will be a card under the tree telling her that her American Girl Doll is waiting for her at the Natick store (score for mommy/daughter experience and not dishing out that money until after Christmas!!!)!!!!

Ug, I have not done nearly enough of my Christmas shopping. It’s causing a mild panic… Also there are two birthdays in my family within the upcoming week. Eek! I’m going to make a serious shopping trip on Sunday. In the morning. Hopefully while everyone else is otherwise occupied. That’s the dream anyway.

Roo! You did one of these last year, right? Aaaannnd, I won (woot!), but the thing never got here. :( I think it was a baby outfit – jams, maybe? I’ve been meaning to get in in touch with you ever since I realized that it wasn’t going to get here. No big deal on my end though, as my “baby” is now running around and chewing on Christmas ornaments. I know it’s not your fault, but I wanted to let you know so that maybe you won’t use that company again… Or, I don’t know. I’d want to know if I were you! Sorry it’s so tardy – I know that 1 year is probably the statute of limitations. ;)
